We’re all on the same boat, or should I say, quarantine counting the days until the coronavirus is out of our lives and we can go and explore the world again. Those of us that suffer from the ‘travel bug’ are finding it difficult to stay put, me included! and until the coast is clear, we try to find daily solutions to our new, hopefully temporary, reality.
Therefore I have made you this list of travel-inspired programs available on Netflix, so you can see the world without actually going out. I have for you a good mixed variety that should be relevant for each of you 😃
Check them out and enjoy!
Night on Earth
This mini-series is one of my favorite nature shows to watch on Netflix. It focuses on wildlife during night time which I find fascinating, and was filmed absolutely stunning in high quality using new technology that reveals wonders of the planet in a completely new light.
The show is narrated by Samira Wiley (Orange Is The New Black) and Beren Saat. Love the women power in this!
You’ve never seen a show like this before.
Another great Netflix show. This time in daylight, the show was filmed in ultra high definition in over 50 countries and captured the best of wildlife, nature and landscape. The stories shared during the show are as incredible as you can expect.
Narrated by the wonderful Sir David Attenborough, that familiar voice you most likely heard before when watching nature documentaries.
The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
I remember watching this film when it came out. I had no expectations at all from it but I was pleasantly surprised at how charming and heartwarming it was.
It’s situated in India and the story revolves around the people who reside in the Marigold hotel along with its owner. You’ll find many familiar faces like Judi Dench, Dev Patel and Richard Gere to name a few.
A fantastic show by the BBC. The best of the coldest parts of the Earth, this show gets close ups of lands almost empty of humans. You can visit those remote, cold destinations without leaving your sofa while holding a nice hot cup of tea.
The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes
Travel isn’t just about nature and wildlife. Travel can be about design, architecture, culture, food.. You name it. Here we have Caroline Quentin, who’s going around the world to look at the most extraordinary homes so you won’t have to. How nice of her! 😉 To top it off, she’s one funny lady!
Whether it’s a way for you to get inspiration on redecorating your own home, or see how some extraordinary architecture around the world, this is the show for you.
Eat Pray Love
Let’s face it, you probably watched this film starring the wonderful Julia Roberts at least once or twice before. For obvious reasons it’s why I added it to my list! It might be your time to watch it again (or for the first time!). We all feel often stuck in a rut and wonder what happened to our sense of freedom, discovery and excitement.
This this is why, right now, is the perfect film for you to watch. So you can dream about being out there and soon enough, be there to see the world again.
Conan Without Borders
The host of the late night show, Conan O’brien in his own amusing travel show, now outside the recording studio. Every episode Conan visits a different country, meets local people and have fun immersing himself in the local culture. It’s a fun way to see the world and experience it together with Conan.
Some of the places he’s been to are Armenia, Italy, Haiti, Israel, Ghana and more.
The ultimate feel good travel movie. A group of girl friends going to Napa Valley, California to celebrate a birthday. It has beautiful scenery, lots of wine and laughters from great talented actresses and plenty of familiar faces such as Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) and Tina Fey (30 Rock).
The Kindness Diaries
Traveler, TV host and writer Leon Logothetis travels the world with his motorbike and the kindness of strangers, which he pays back in unexpected, inspiring ways. Get tissues near by and get ready to be emotional.
