Accidentally Wes Anderson also known as AWA, captures the spirit of the multi-talented Wes Anderson who is known for films such as The Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs.
The Accidentally Wes Anderson pop up opened on December 4th and is free to visit until the 23rd of December 2020. AWA can be found at The Old Bank Vault gallery in Hackney London and let me tell you, it’s worth going!
I eagerly waited for lockdown to be over so I could make my way to see the Accidentally Wes Anderson pop up. Without knowing too much about it I had a feeling I am going to love it, and I was not disappointed. 😍
The first thing my husband Will and I saw when we got to the gallery was a cinema sign displayed outside with the title – “Accidentally Wes Anderson x The Old Bank Vault, Now Showing”.
What a great way to get people to come in! I mean, even though the pop up is all about photography of places around the world, they are done in the Wes Anderson cinematic style and that says it all.

As we came into the gallery, we were greeted by the friendly staff who were super helpful with all my millions of questions. I just had to find out more!
I absolutely love the minimalistic, colorful style of photography AWA has captured. The purpose of art is to evoke feelings and I felt my heart smiling when I looked at the stunning photography that was displayed in the gallery.

The Old Bank Vault has turned the Accidentally Wes Anderson pop up into part shop part exhibition: Utilizing items such as books, clothing, art prints that are on sale next to other items such as a delicious looking cake as props.
On top of that, the gallery has added a few interactive ways for you to enjoy the pop up, besides of course spending money and taking lots of selfies. 😉

There is a charity raffle in place for a chance to win an autographed book by none other than Wes Anderson himself! You can also write a postcard for a friend and the gallery will send them out for you. How lovely is that?
As well as joining in the raffle, I just had to buy one of the books for my personal photography book collection. They stamped my book with the AWA logo and wrapped it beautifully for me in bright yellow paper. The whole pop up was thought through from start to finish.

After the past months where I felt like I am in need to see art and exhibitions, the Accidentally Wes Anderson pop up managed to fill that void and inspire me.
It does without a doubt remind me how important art is to the world, especially in times of uncertainty and change. To me this pop up couldn’t come at better timing.
Please do yourself this favor, head over to The Old Bank Vault and experience the pop up first hand. If you can’t resist it, like me, you may leave with a stunning souvenir. 😄 You better hurry, this pop-up is only around until 23rd December 2020!
